Metal roofs are an excellent choice for your roofing needs thanks to metal's durability, longevity, and sustainability. In addition to your metal roofing panels, you will also want to add some other metal roofing products to complete your metal roof's look and functionality.

Why You Should Choose Metal Roofing
Maybe you are already convinced that metal roofing products are the way to go because you've heard about how it's a smart and sustainable roofing material with a large ROI. If you are not convinced about choosing metal roofing panels, consider these benefits to having metal roofs and accessories:

Recyclability
Metal roofs can be both created from recycled materials and recycled once they are no longer usable. Often, 25% - 95% of a metal roof is made from recycled materials, making metal roofing a very sustainable choice that will benefit you and the environment. By contrast, traditional asphalt shingles are created using petroleum and can contain hundreds of gallons of crude oil. Using traditional asphalt shingles increases our dependency on fossil fuels and results in nearly 20 billion pounds of old asphalt shingles being sent to U.S. landfills every year.

Metal roofs are also 100% recyclable, making metal a very sustainable choice. At the end of its lifespan, your metal roof can be recycled and used in future metal products. While asphalt tile roofs can usually last 12 - 20 years before they are thrown into a landfill, metal roofs generally last two to six times longer than asphalt roofs and can be recycled, making metal roofs more environmentally friendly.

Low Maintenance
Metal roofs require less maintenance than other types of roofing, thanks to the metal roof's durability. Other roofing materials like asphalt will crumble, break, and discolor far more easily than a metal roof will.

Metal is resistant to many problems that plague other types of roofs, like rot, mildew, mold, fungus, algae, and insects. You can also add rust-proof coatings to metal panels to make them even more durable. Thanks to all of these beneficial properties, metal roofs require less maintenance, which will save you money over time.

Longevity
Metal roofs have a long, durable lifespan. If properly installed, a metal roof can last 40 - 70 years, and zinc or copper roofs can last over 100 years! In comparison, a traditional asphalt roof will usually last 12 - 20 years before needing to be replaced.

Choose Hill Country Metal Roofing Supply for Your Metal Roofing Products
We Offer Custom Fabricated Sheet Metal Panels
Hill Country Metal Roofing Supply offers custom fabricated sheet metal panels because we know that everyone's needs are different. Using the same sheet metal panels from roof to roof won't provide our customers with the roofs they want and deserve.

Our concealed fastener, or
SnapLoc, roofing panels come in 24 gauge or 26 gauge as well as single-loc and double-loc standing seam panels. SnapLoc roofing panels are resistant to both rust and screw pops, making it a wonderful roofing choice that will last for years and require the lowest amount of maintenance.

We Offer Specialty Metal Roof Accessories
In addition to the custom fabricated sheet metal panels that form the base of your roof, we offer specialty accessories for your roof.

Flashing
It's important to have high quality flashing on your roof to ensure that water doesn't penetrate your roof. Flashing is a device that stops water from entering a roof penetration or a joint. It's usually installed at strategic junctures in the roof to help create a roofing envelope that is more water-resistant through gravity, surface tension, and wind pressure.

Flashing is most often installed near chimneys, skylights, dormers, roof valleys, eaves, rakes, ridges, roof to wall intersections, and vents because these areas need extra reinforcement.

Underlayment
Underlayment is installed over the sheathing that sits on top of the rafters or joists. Underlayment is meant to be waterproof in order to help stop any moisture that makes it through the outer, metal layer of the roof.

Not all roofs need underlayment. Metal roofs being installed over asphalt shingles don't need a layer of underlayment, but the shingles may damage the bottom of the metal roof as it expands and contracts with the temperature.

Caulking and Sealants
Roof caulks and sealants help prevent water from entering the building. These products vary in durability and life expectancy, with sealants generally lasting longer and providing better results than traditional caulks.

Silicone sealants are usually clear or translucent, allowing them to fit in with any color building material, but they can also be pigmented to match. Silicone sealants usually cure by being exposed to moisture, dry fast, and cure soft, making them a better choice for applying them in colder climates. Polyurethane sealants remain wet for up to 24 hours but hold up to abrasion much better than silicone sealants because polyurethane sealants cure hard.

Butyl Tape
Butyl tape can be used to seal metal-to-metal connections on your roof. It can fill minor irregularities in the surface of your roof and seal the joints to create a barrier that protects your roof from water, dust, moisture, and dirt.

Fasteners
Fasteners are the main anchor points for metal panels so they help attach the metal roof panels to the roof deck. They can also be used to secure trim and flashing materials. So, it's incredibly important to have strong, durable metal roof fasteners!

Fasteners can be concealed (like the pancake head fastener or the hex head fastener) or exposed (like exposed gasket head fasteners or rivets and pop rivets) and they vary in size.

Boots

Boots are installed around the base of a pipe to help waterproof your plumbing vent pipes, which will prevent leaks. Pipe vents allow air to enter the waste line in your plumbing which provides the pressure needed to move wastewater from your home into the sewer system.

Clips
Roofing clips are an important part of standing seam metal roofing and wall systems because they help anchor a metal panel to the roof deck or other material below the metal panel. There are a wide variety of clips, and it's important to choose the right one because clips can impact the integrity and performance of the roof.

Gutters
Gutters are important because they divert water away from your home. Without gutters, or with faulty gutters, water will start to pool into the foundation of your home, erode parts of your building, and cause water damage issues throughout your house. Gutters also can help prevent soil erosion, basement flooding, and rotting siding on your home.

We create custom gutters that will serve your house well and work to protect your home by diverting water away.

Chimney Crickets

Chimney crickets, or chimney saddles, are ridge structures that divert water around the high side of a chimney or move the water from one part of the roof to another. Through diverting water away from the flashing and masonry of the chimney, chimney crickets greatly reduce the potential for leaks.

We offer custom chimney crickets because all chimneys and roofs are different and having a customized cricket will ensure that your chimney is properly fortified against water and leaks.

Chimney Caps
Chimney caps cover the top of a chimney and help prevent chimney leaks. It can help prevent animals from entering through the chimney, protect the roof from burning embers started in a house fire, prevent debris build-up, block downdrafts, and keep moisture out.

Hill Country Metal Roofing Supply offers designer chimney caps that will really help improve your chimney's functionality and appearance.
